Ethics-Based Transformation of National Education: A Qualitative Study on Values, Character, and Modern Civilization

The transformation of national education in the modern era faces increasingly complex challenges due to globalization, digitalization, and the moral crisis of contemporary society, which have encouraged modern education to become more pragmatically and competitively oriented, resulting in the marginalization of ethical, character, and humanitarian dimensions within educational practices. This study aims to analyze the ethics-based transformation of national education from the perspectives of values, character, and modern civilization. This research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. The data were collected through documentation studies of relevant scientific literature, including books, journal articles, and educational documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis with a descriptive-interpretative approach. The findings reveal that the primary problem of modern national education lies in the weakening integration between knowledge and moral values, leading to a tendency toward the dehumanization of education. The study also finds that ethics-based education plays a strategic role in developing a humanistic, character-oriented, and civilized educational system through the strengthening of educational culture, exemplary conduct, and the internalization of values throughout the educational process. Therefore, ethics serves as an essential foundation for reconstructing national education in addressing the challenges of modern civilization and the moral crisis of contemporary society.
